Debt Education & Certification Foundation is a non-profit company providing Pre-Filing Credit Counseling and Pre-discharge Education courses. Courses are available in English and Spanish, and can be taken by internet or by phone. Debt Education & Certification Foundation does not offer debt management repayment programs or accept any funding from credit card companies.

Attorney accounts can be created to allow the attorney to register clients for the appropriate course, track the progress of online courses and download certificates directly from their attorney account (in addition to certificates being emailed to the attorney as a PDF attachment appropriate for electronic filing).

Institute for Financial Literacy
The Institute for Financial Literacy is a 501(c)(3), tax exempt not-for-profit organization that provides both pre-filing credit counseling and post-filing debtor education services. All programs are available by Internet or telephone, and certificates are provided within 30 minutes of a client completing a program.

The Institute is a financial education organization focused on presenting unbiased, neutral information to its clients and does not offer debt management plans, debt re-negotiation, debt settlement or any similar type of services. The Institute is the only agency which has been approved in all judicial districts for both pre and post filing programs.

Hummingbird Credit Counseling and Education www.hbcce.org
Developed by a bankruptcy attorney, Hummingbird provides unbiased, low-cost Internet credit counseling and financial education.

The required pre-filing credit counseling is offered at $49 per case (not per person) in all United States Trustee districts. The required post-filing financial education is $19 per person in United States Trustee districts. All services are available in Spanish as well as English. A high-speed Internet connection is needed.
